FOUR people died, and six others were injured when the vehicle they were travelling in was involved in a head-on collision with a Hino rigid truck along the Ngundu-Tanganda road.
In a statement, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) confirmed the accident, which occurred yesterday (Thursday), involving a Probox and a Hino truck at the 2 km peg along the Ngundu-Tanganda road.
The Probox had ten passengers on board.
“A motorist driving a Toyota Probox vehicle, carrying ten passengers and travelling towards Ngundu, was involved in a head-on collision with a Hino rigid truck travelling towards Chiredzi. Four passengers in the Toyota Probox died on the spot, while six others sustained serious injuries.”
The bodies were taken to Neshuro District Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examinations.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident along the Mutare–Burma Valley Road on Wednesday, a Toyota Wish carrying nine passengers collided head-on with a Nissan NV350, which was travelling in the opposite direction and carrying five occupants.
Three passengers in the Toyota Wish sustained severe injuries and were pronounced dead upon admission to Victoria Chitepo Hospital.
