GARANYEMBA – After extensive consultations, the Chiefs’ Council and the Ndlovu family have selected and installed Alfred Themba Ndlovu as the new substantive Chief Nhlamba, marking the culmination of a thorough, transparent, and collaborative process.
Chief Alfred Themba Ndlovu succeeds the late Chief Dennis Ndlovu Nhlamba, who passed away in May 2022, leaving the position vacant for over four years.
The official installation ceremony is scheduled for October 14, 2026, in accordance with Section 3(1) of the Traditional Leaders Act, Chapter 29:17.
Gwanda District Development Coordinator Nomathemba Ndlovu has invited stakeholders, family, and friends to the ceremony, which will be attended by the Minister of Local Government and Public Works, Daniel Garwe.
“You are cordially invited to the installation ceremony of Chief Nhlamba, who will be installed by the Minister of Local Government and Public Works on October 14, 2026, at Ntepe Nhlamba Homestead. Your presence will be highly valued as we come together to celebrate this important traditional occasion. We are all invited to come, enjoy, and celebrate,” said the DDC in her invitation letter.
The new chief will replace his relative, Jeffrey Ndlovu, who was appointed as interim chief on July 1, 2022, initially for a one-year term but has continued to serve until now.
