Gwanda-Tshitaudze Constituency centre to drive devolution

Share

THE newly commissioned Gwanda-Tshitaudze constituency centre has been described as a key driver in spearheading devolution of development programmes across the constituency.

The centre was officially commissioned by Matabeleland South Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Dr Evelyn Ndlovu, on behalf of Vice President Kembo Mohadi, last week.

The centre is situated few miles away from Gwanda town centre, near Vehicle Inspection Department offices. The centre was built by Gwanda-Tshitaudze legislator, Fisani Moyo, and will act as a crossroads point for the legislator and the electorate in the constituency.

The facility has a 500-seater community hall, MP’s office, boardroom and five administrative offices.

Speaking on behalf of Vice President Mohadi, Dr Ndlovu said the centre is part of the Government’s efforts to decentralise and empower people from the grassroots level.

“This constituency centre is a reflection that our government under Zanu PF has an eye for development. Projects and programme that are set to transform our area will be carried out here. Leaders like Moyo have wisdom and are keen to see this area transforming, let us use them.

“Now the MP is easily accessible, making it easy for people to interact with him on daily basis.

Programmes and developmental projects will be done here .This resonates well with President Mnangagwa’s vision and his development thrust that ‘brick upon brick and stone upon stone’. I challenge legislators, government officials to do likewise to ensure that our province thrives,” Dr Ndlovu said.

Gwanda-Tshitaudze legislator, Fisani Moyo, said the centre will be used for championing proposals, and planning programmes that will be used to build the constituency.

“I built this structure during my campaign period, knowing that I will win the election. I saw it fit to construct this structure for people to interact with me and ensure my visibility and dedication to serve this constituency. “Programmes will be proposed and deliberated here. We have formed a committee that will look into all those aspects. Some are already underway it serves both youth, women, and the elderly, we leave no one behind,” said Moyo.

The constituency development committee will be led by Chief Masuku. It will be tackling issues from village level up to the constituency level.

Zanu PF central committee member, Abednico Ncube said the centre is a reflection that the ruling party is walking the talk under the philosophy of “ilizwe lakhiwa ngabanikazi balo”.

“The President’s vision is clear; we are the ones to build our own country. If we embrace this philosophy like what Cde Moyo has done, we will sure attain Vision 2030. This investment will be utilised for a number of different projects,” said Ncube.

Matabeleland North, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Richard Moyo, Zanu PF politburo members, senior government officials and traditional leadership graced the event.
