Bulawayo, (New Ziana)-The Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) Company will this year raise the curtain on the premier annual exhibition with the Gweru to Bulawayo 100 Miler Classic cycling challenge, a dynamic event that brings together endurance, passion, and community engagement.

The race, being organised in partnership with the the Flying Eagles Cycling Club in Bulawayo, will see cyclists traverse the route from Gweru to Bulawayo, transforming the journey into a celebration of sport, discipline, and connection.

The 100-mile race will commence at 6 AM from Fairmile Hotel in Gweru, while the 50-mile and 25-mile races will begin from Insiza and Mbembesi respectively.

All participants will converge at the finish line at Khumalo Hockey Stadium in Bulawayo, with a cut-off time set for 1PM.

In an interview on Monday, ZITF marketing and corporate communications manager, Thandolwenkosi Nkomo, said raising the ZITF 2026 curtain with a cycling extravaganza embodies the spirit of excellence, connections and energy that transcends the exhibition.

“This event is an opportunity for sports fans, exhibitors, locals and international visitors, to kick off the show with a challenge that allows them to compete in a cordial atmosphere while enjoying the beauty of the Zimbabwean landscape,” he said.

“We have over 150 cyclists registered across the various categories from all over the country. As we prepare the race packs, you can feel the excitement and anticipation growing within the cycling community,” he added.

He said The Flying Eagles team was working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure the event will be the most memorable 100 Miler Set.

“What we’re building is special. It’s about pushing your limits and achieving your goals. From novice to elite, watching every cyclist cross the finish,” he added.

The ZITF is set to take place from Monday to Saturday next week at the ZITF Exhibition Centre in Bulawayo.
