“I really want to thank Dr Amai Auxillia Mnangagwa for the opportunity she has given me with Angel of Hope Foundation, this is not my first time receiving a certificate, I now have eight certificates under my name,” said Elizabeth Siziba.

She was among the 1 683 women who benefited from Angel of Hope Foundation Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) life changing short courses who were presented with certificates recently.

She praised Amai Mnangagwa for saving and changing the lives of vulnerable women in marginalised communities through her charity works.

“I started last year when the short courses were introduced in Matebeleland North and with the first graduation, I bagged four courses and now I have four which makes it eight. I already have a place to do my attachment since I was doing a nurse aid course. I also did a course in IT and am now knowledgeable with technical staff. With all my courses I have learnt, I am going to effectively benefit my community,” she said joyfully.

Pastor Jesca Choto from River of Life Ministry in Hwange echoed similar sentiments saying the skills which the women have obtained from Angel of Hope have an impact in the community of Hwange.

“Indeed educating a woman is educating a nation; empowering a woman is empowering a nation and with these courses we have added value to our lives. I really want to encourage women who are in Hwange to take part in these life changing skills.

“I have done an Early Childhood Development (ECD) course and as a pastor I now know how to handle children. I have knowledge on how to counsel people. We really appreciate the facilitators for their kind hearts as they really showed us that they have been taught to love like our Mother, Dr Amai Mnangagwa,” she said.

The first graduation in Matebeleland North was held at the Hwange Colliery stadium with 726 Angel of Hope Foundation /ZOU partnership beneficiaries and the second graduation has 1 683 making a total of 2409 graduates to date.

ZOU Vice Chancellor, Paul Henry Gundani, congratulated the beneficiaries of the short programmes.

“These courses are life changing, lifelong courses –the skills that you receive from these courses will help you throughout your life. The certificates are a stepping stone, they also give you self-esteem. I guarantee you graduates, these courses are credible as they will surely change your life,” said Gundani.
