KADOMA – A 39-year-old man was allegedly mauled to death by a pack of dogs at an open field in Eiffel Flats last Sunday evening, sending shockwaves through the local community.

Police confirmed they are investigating the tragic incident, which took place near Plot 104, Sabonabona in Eiffel Flats at approximately 7 PM.

The victim’s body was later discovered at the scene, unclothed, with his clothes torn apart and multiple severe dog bite wounds.

Police have appealed to the public to exercise heightened safety precautions when near stray or unattended dogs.

“The ZRP urges dog owners to ensure that their dogs are properly secured at all times and to comply with relevant local authority by-laws governing the keeping and control of dogs,” said police in a statement.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe has seen a surge in dangerous dog attacks, with authorities attributing the spike to the proliferation of illegal backyard breeding.

The Ministry of Health and Child Care continues to urge pet owners to license and vaccinate their dogs in accordance with council by-laws to help curb the rising incidents of dog attacks.
