Kariba council getting it right

Share

KARIBA – KARIBA town council says that is proud of providing uninterrupted
service delivery to its residents and stakeholders. This is in the form of water, refuse
collection, road maintenance, among others.

Gabriel Mazivofa, the Public Relations Officer for the Municipality of Kariba, last
week told Telegraph that, as Municipality of Kariba they are proud of having done
well where other local authorities appear to be failing to cope with provision of
services to residents.

Susan Tembo, a resident of Kariba said in her opinion, the council has been
providing good service delivery everything seems in order in Kariba.

“Water is coming out of the taps, our bins are collected on time, on regular basis as
well, there are also some places where there is no water, but this is because the way
the pipes are made is what causes the problem.”

Portia Chisanga, another resident of Kariba, said they didn’t have a problem, since
their bins were collected twice a week.

“But these days I don’t know what is happening to the council or is it that they have a
problem with fuel, the bins used to be collected twice a week, but these days they
are collecting once a week.

“If you are renting a house whereby five to six families stay together in one yard, the
bin easily gets too full to the extent that we have nowhere else to throw the litter.

“At the same time the Environmental Management Agency (EMA) does not allow us
to throw litter everywhere. So, if the litter is not collected on a regular basis our yards
will not be pleasant to look at. The Council must collect bins like they used to do on
Tuesdays and Fridays.

“We don’t have problems with water here in Kariba, a person can have a shower at
any time, the council also provides us with clean drinking water which comes out of

the taps, although there are a few areas where water does not come out of the taps.
This may be because of the way the pipes have been set up, but we do not have
problems with water in Kariba,” stressed Chisanga.
