Harare (New Ziana)-Former Criminal Investigations Department officer Jaison Muvevi who shot dead three people and seriously injured another in Hwedza last Friday was on Tuesday successfully repatriated from Mozambique where he was arrested on Monday.

Muvevi had been on the run since Friday after shooting dead an apostolic sect leader, a policeman and a bartender as well as seriously injuring another police officer.

In a tweet, the Zimbabwe Republic Police confirmed that Muvevi had been successfully repatriated from Mozambique where he was arrested.

“Reference is made to the ZRP press statement on the arrest of the murder suspect, Jaison Muvevi in Mozambique on 16/01/23. The ZRP confirms that the suspect has been successfully repatriated from Mozambique and is now in Mutare,” it said.

“He is now on his way to Harare for the law to take its course. More details to be provided in due course.”

Muvevi allegedly went to an apostolic sect church gathering in Hwedza on Friday and fatally shot dead a self-styled prophet, Chrispen Kanerusine also known as Madzibaba Sirage.

He then attacked police officers who reacted to the shooting and shot dead the Officer-in-charge for Hwedza Police Station Inspector Maxwell Hove and injured another policeman.

After the shooting, Muvevi drove to Mukamba Business Centre where he shot dead Munashe Mujanhi before driving away.

On Staurday Muvevi was involved in a fierce shoot with police in the Chiduku area near Rusape.

Realising that he was being overpowered, Muvevi abandoned his Toyota Allion vehicle and fled into the nearby Chigora Mountain.
