THE Matabeleland South chapter of Zimbabwe Boxing and Wrestling Control Board (ZNBWCB) has called out to all boxing and wrestling stakeholders that all the 2023 licences expired on December 31, 2023.

It said that renewals, new licences and payments are due on or before March 31, 2024.

Matabeleland South ZNBWCB, provincial co-ordinator, Maculwamahle Nkomo, said they are currently processing registrations and renewing of licences for athletes, coaches, promoters and managers.

The new fees structure will see boxers and wrestlers forking out USD$15, up from the previous $10 for non-champions while the champions category will pay $20.

International promoters’ fees remain unchanged at $200, while nationals will pay $100, up from the previous $50. Local promoters on development will fork out $75, up from $50.

The other noticeable changes on the fees are on sanctioning fees for local tournaments, which shot up from $75 to $100, while their international counterparts will pay $275, up from $250.

Nkomo also said they would be starting capacity-development beginning with coaches and then officiating marshals.

She also promised more developmental tournaments as well as professional ones while a calendar of sport events will be unpacked.

“The requirements for registration or renewal across all categories except promoters for boxers who qualified from the ZNBWCB sparring events are the registration forms downloaded from the website, two certified ID copies, two passport size colour photos, boxers older than 18 years and younger than 35, boxing profile, medical examination form.

As for promoters the other requirements are the same except that they must have certified company registration certificate, certified ZIMRA tax clearance, bank confirmation letter and current bank statement,” reads part of the statement.

Licensing of all non-Zimbabwean citizens will be processed strictly by the ZNBWCB head office in Harare on two days a week.

Their additional requirement are a certified copy of permit issued by the department of immigration, which must be valid for a minimum period of six months from the start of the new licensing year and a certified copy of passport.
