Bindura(Nehanda Guardian-New Ziana) -A 20 year old man from Gutu district in Masvingo was recently sentenced to perform 420 hours community service at a local hospital after he was caught writing a Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council “A” level paper for someone else.

Circumstances surrounding the matter are that on October 25 this year at around 8.30 am at Mvurwi High School, Mazowe district of Mashonaland Central province Tinashe Mashingaidze unlawfully sat for the ZIMSEC “A” level Geography Paper 1 for Evans Ranganai.

The matter came to light when school headmaster Marusho Nathaniel entered the examination hall on his routine checks and he became suspicious of Mashingaidze as it was his first time to see him.

Marusho then tasked the invigilator Fadzai Gatawa to check with Mashingaidze.

Gatawa discovered that Mashingaidze was not a student at Mvurwi High School and advised Marusho, who reported the matter to the ZRP Mvurwi.

The examination papers bore the name of Evans Ranganai.

Malunga pleaded guilty to the charge before Guruve magistrate Shingirai Mutiro who slapped him with sixteen months imprisonment, four of which ere suspended for five years on condition of good behavior, while the remaining 12 months were suspended on condition that he serves 420 hours of community service at Chinyika Hospital in Gutu.

In mitigation, Mashingaidze told the court that he was trapped by Ranganai who lied to him that there was a scholarship for him at the school and was needed urgently to take the opportunity but on condition that he wrote the exam on his behalf.
