GWERU – A man from Chipinge allegedly hanged himself on a tree along Harare Road near Gweru
River Bridge after he was denied permission to see his child in Gweru recently.
The now deceased Paul Sigauke’s friends said he had called his sister informing her of his decision to
take his life after he was allegedly denied permission to see his child whose sex and age could not be
ascertained by the time of going to print.
People who first witnessed his body hanging from a tree near Gweru River Bridge said he had also
    penned a suicide note.
Police in Gweru are now investigating a case of sudden death.
“We are investigating a case of sudden death where a 27-year-old man was found hanging from a
tree near Gweru River Bridge on 11 January around 7am,” Midlands police spokesperson Inspector
    Emmanuel Mahoko said.
“Circumstances are that a passer-by was on his way to Gweru Central Business District when he saw
Sigauke of Village Chikanga under Chief Mutema in Chipinge hanging from a tree.”
Sigauke’s body was ferried to Gweru Provincial Hospital for post-mortem.
Police appealed to the public to consider sharing their problems with a trusted friend or relative or
make use of the police community relations liaison offices located at every police station rather than
    taking one’s life.
