Zvishavane (New Ziana) – A man drowned while trapped in a vehicle which had plunged down Ngezi River bridge, and another was seriously injured, police have said.

Midlands province police spokesman, Emmanuel Mahoko said the drowned victim was Albert Tafa of Zvishavane, while Blessing Mano – who was walking across the bridge – was hit by the car as it plunged down.

He said Tafa reportedly lost control of the vehicle as it crossed the bridge and plunged down to his death. Mano sustained serious injuries and is in critical condition in hospital.

Officers from the police sub aqua unit recovered Tafa’s trapped body from the drowned car.
