Masvingo (New Ziana) – Police have arrested six people suspected to be behind a recent house robbery in Masvingo in which a woman was killed.

Robbers pounced on a house in the city last Thursday and stole $500 000, various other amounts of money in foreign currency and a car before bundling the owners – a husband and wife – into a car and later throwing them into a 20-metre disused mine pit.

The wife died and the husband suffered severe injuries, and is in hospital.

Police said the six were arrested in Harare, and had since been brought back to Masvingo.

The city’s residents praised the police for the swift arrest in the case which had saddened the whole of Masvingo.
