MASVINGO — Masvingo traditional leaders have voted to recall Chiefs Fortune Charumbira, Nhema and Chitanga from the Senate and Chiefs Council following a motion tabled by Chief Nemamwa.
The motion was considered during the Masvingo Provincial Chiefs Assembly today, with 42 chiefs voting in favour of the recall, effectively ending the trio’s tenure in the Senate and Chiefs Council.
Only three chiefs, all from Mwenezi, voted against the motion, while three chiefs from Chiredzi had their votes declared spoiled.
The development comes amid growing tensions within the provincial traditional leadership structures, with the latest vote now putting the positions held by the three chiefs in the national and provincial traditional leadership bodies in question.
