Masvingo(New Ziana) – Provincial medical authorities in Masvingo said on Monday they had installed Covid-19 screening equipment at the main government offices in the city as a precaution measure against the disease.

Masvingo provincial medical doctor, Amadeus Shamhu said scanners had been installed at the Benjamin Burombo Building, the seat of the provincial government.

This is part of wider government efforts to limit the spread of coronavirus, which has claimed the life of one person in the country, and another is in hospital.

Samhu said all visitors to government offices in Masvingo will now be screened, which will help in speedily detecting cases of the disease.

Zimbabwe has heightened its alertness for Covid-19, and a raft of precautionary measures have been announced by the government to combat the disease.

These include closing the country’s borders to non-essential human traffic, shutting down schools, sporting and entertainment venues, and increased surveillance.
