GWERU – Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affairs, Larry Mavima said on Monday he had gone into isolation at home after testing positive for Covid-19.
Mavima, who is the Midlands Covid-19 taskforce committee chairperson, told New Ziana said he was recovering at home as doctors saw no need for him to be hospitalised.
“Yes, I did get tested for Covid-19, the results were positive. I was then directed to self isolate at home since I did not have any serious symptoms that required me to be hospitalized,” Mavima said.
“I am well and recovering and resting at home. No pain, I am safe and sound.”
He said the infection was “a wakeup call for me and for everyone in Zimbabwe that indeed Covid-19 still exists.”
He urged Zimbabweans to follow laid down Covid-19 regulations such as wearing masks, social distancing and maintaining good hygiene.
As of November 1, the Midlands province had recorded a total of 686 Covid-19 cases and nine deaths.
Only 20 cases were still active.
