THE Beitbridge Mayor's Half Marathon, which has become an annual event on
Zimbabwes athletic calendar is on this Saturday, according to Beitbridge
Municipality, who host the event.
The event, in its eighth year, was created to spread awareness against litter and is
preceded by a clean-up exercise of the town.
It will be held along the Bulawayo Road, from Mtetengwe Village to the border town.
In a notice on social media, Beitbridge Municipality invited would-be participants to
register and take part in what is perhaps Matabeleland South Province’s major track
event.
Its that time again, BEITBRIDGE MAYORS HALF MARATHON 2023. Please note
change of race date from 03 June 2023 to 08 July 2023. Registration is open for
those who are 16 years and above. Registration forms are available at the
Municipality PR (Public Relations) office and other centres around town," reads the
notice broadcast on several outlets and social media groups.
The marathon events include Wheelchair Athletes, Cyclists, juniors, seniors,
Veterans, Masters and Grandmasters are all welcome to register, according to the
notice.
Participants are expected to pay registration fees of R50 or USD $3 an individual
acceptable in Bank deposits or cash.

The event created by Beitbridge Town Clerk, Loud Ramagkapola, has grown from a
village to a national marathon, now attracting national champions and clubs from the
Zimbabwe Republic Police, Zimbabwe National Army, and the Zimbabwe Prisons
and Correctional Services, among others.
