GWERU – Military attaches to Zimbabwe have applauded the country’s Vision 2030 as a key pillar for development.
Dean of Defense Attaches Colonel John Bosco Milanzi acknowledged the Second Republic’s efforts towards developing the country’s economy.
“We have come to the Midlands to learn and see the impact of traditions of the country and we appreciate the embracement of the Vision 2030.
“We have seen and we appreciate the developments in the Midlands Province being spearheaded by Minister Owen Ncube. This is a great stanza by the Second Republic towards economic development,” said Col Milanzi.
Kosheni Mutisi Director Economic Affairs in the Minister of Provincial Affairs and Devolution’s office said the visit by the military attaches allows the province to showcase development by the government to empower the society and spell great confidence that the vision 2030 will be reached by 2028.
“With this visit of the Defense Attaches from across the globe, we take it as an opportunity to showcase the policies and programmes that we have benefited under the Second Republic. We have Vision 2030 which talks about an upper-middle income of the people and an empowered society but given the development trajectory of the province we think by 2028 we will be there.
“You have seen our Gross Domestic Product by 2022 was around 3 086 and we are targeting 3 200 by 2025 given the development and the cross rates of the province over the past few years we feel this is achievable,” said Mutisi.
Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Owen Ncube said Zimbabwe is open for business through the Second Republic’s developmental strategies and policies.
“l am reliably informed that the Foreign Military Attaches Association is on its annual familiarisation tour of Zimbabwe to get first hand appreciation of our current political, economic, military, social and cultural norms trends in an effort to portray and get correct evidence-based issues about the government of Zimbabwe.
“The President’s bold strategies and decisions were made to open up the economy to both foreign and domestic investments, easy of doing business, corporate governance, public sector reform engagement and reengagement among other strategies that have vigorously persuaded to create an attractive investment climate towards job creation, technology transfer and the GDP growth,” Minister Ncube said.
The Defence Attaches also toured the Midlands State University Pathology Centre.
