Harare (New Ziana) –The Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Zhemu Soda is leading a high powered delegation from Zimbabwe to the 7th Forum on China-Africa Media Cooperation which opened in Beijing on Thursday.

In a post on its X handle on Thursday, The Ministry said Soda held a bilateral meeting with his Chinese counterpart, Minister of the National Radio and Television Administration, Cao Shumin, on the side lines of the Forum.

According to the Ministry, the two discussed key areas of cooperation in the media sector between Zimbabwe and China.

“The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to exchange views on strengthening media collaboration and enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest,” it said.

Meanwhile reports from Beijing say African officials and media leaders called for China-Africa media cooperation to move beyond equipment support and program exchanges to coproduction and two-way storytelling, in order to assist the African media better narrate their own stories and bring a wider African perspective to Chinese audiences.

The three-day Forum has brought together about 400 government, media, diplomatic, business and academic representatives from China and 45 African countries.

It is being held as China and Africa mark 70 years of launching diplomatic relations in 2026 and observe the China-Africa Year of People-to-People Exchanges.
