Harare, (New Ziana) -The Ministry of Health and Child Care has issued a public warning against individuals masquerading as recruitment facilitators for nursing positions.

In a statement, Ministry public relations officer Donald Mujiri said the scammers, operating under the guise of a person calling herself “Sister Madya” from the Outpatients Department (OPD) and another individual identified as Dr Madyira, are targeting unsuspecting job seekers with false promises of employment.

“The Ministry of Health and Child Care wishes to warn the public about fraudulent individuals posing as facilitators for nurse recruitment. The scam is allegedly organized by someone calling herself “Sister Madya” from the Outpatient Department (OPD), and a person identified as Dr Madyira, who is providing a WhatsApp number (0773815136),” he said.

Mujiri said the fraudsters claim to assist potential candidates in selecting their choices for placements at various hospitals including Parirenyatwa, Sally Mugabe, United Bulawayo Hospital, Mpilo, Gutu, and Karanda Hospital.

He said the individuals, who are instructing potential candidates to pay USD$75 through Innbucks or Mukuru as part of the process, promise guaranteed recruitment, request payment, or ask for personal information.

“The Ministry of Health and Child Care emphasizes that nursing recruitment is free of charge, and the Government does not require any payments to secure employment in the healthcare sector.

“The Ministry has no affiliation with these scammers and urges the public to exercise caution,” he said.

Mujiri urged members of the public to verify information through official Ministry channels or to report incidents to the Zimbabwe Republic Police immediately, as well as desisting from engaging with suspicious characters.
