HARARE – Zimbabwe on Monday celebrated the 83rd birthday of President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, a moment that not only marked another year in his life but also highlighted the legacy of a leader whose vision continues to shape the nation’s trajectory.
Among the many voices of admiration was Bishop Dr. Aderino Nyabanga, President and Founder of God’s Generals International Forum & Legacy Builders Global Hub, who extended warm congratulations to the Head of State.
“Your unwavering dedication to Zimbabwe’s progress and prosperity is truly commendable. We pray for your continued health, wisdom, and longevity as you guide our nation towards a prosperous future,” Bishop Nyabanga said.
Since assuming office in 2017, President Mnangagwa has led the nation under the guiding banner of the Second Republic, anchored on Unity, Peace, and Development. His administration has pursued sweeping reforms through the Transitional Stabilisation Programme (TSP) and National Development Strategy 1 (NDS1), setting Zimbabwe on a course of macroeconomic stability, growth, and resilience.
Bishop Nyabanga highlighted landmark achievements that have become synonymous with President Mnangagwa’s leadership, including the massive rehabilitation of the Harare–Beitbridge highway, the construction of strategic dams to boost water security, and bold agricultural reforms that have promoted food self-sufficiency.
“His leadership has transformed agriculture into a driver of national growth by empowering smallholder farmers and strengthening food security systems,” the clergyman said.
On the global stage, the President’s international re-engagement thrust encapsulated in the mantra “Zimbabwe is Open for Business” has drawn new investment, mended diplomatic ties, and rekindled confidence in Zimbabwe’s place in the world.
His role as Chairperson of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) further underscored his influence, with his tenure marked by regional peace advocacy, dialogue, and diplomacy, said Bishop Nyabanga.
He also commended President Mnangagwa for tackling persistent challenges such as energy shortages and climate change, as well as his role in the commissioning of the new SADC Secretariat headquarters, a landmark in regional governance.
In a move that won global acclaim, Bishop Nyabanga noted that President Mnangagwa oversaw the abolition of the death penalty, reinforcing Zimbabwe’s commitment to human rights and justice reform.
Affectionately known by his totem Shumba (Lion), President Mnangagwa is celebrated as a leader of courage, resilience, and steadfast resolve.
“Your Excellency, we stand firmly behind your vision and leadership,” Bishop Nyabanga said. “May your efforts be blessed, and may Zimbabwe continue to flourish under your stewardship.”
