NACZ slashes registration fees

Harare, – The National Arts Council of Zimbabwe (NACZ) has significantly reduced registration fees for creative organisations, arts associations, and individual artists following a government directive to review levies, licences, and permits across business sectors.

The reduction, which takes effect immediately, is intended to ease operational burdens within the cultural and creative industries.

Announcing the development on Friday, the NACZ said the measure is designed to foster growth and sustainability in the sector.

“This directive follows an instruction received by the Ministry of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture from the Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Misheck Rushwaya. The instruction mandates Government agencies to implement and enhance the ease of doing business through the review of licences, permits, and levies.

“In alignment with the Government’s commitment to stimulating the creative economy and supporting artists, the NACZ has amended its fee structure. This decisive reduction is designed to lower the barriers to formalisation, encourage compliance, and inject vitality into the sector by allowing practitioners to redirect resources towards production, innovation, and sustainability,” it said.

The intervention reaffirms the role of the government and NACZ as catalysts for development, ensuring that the arts sector remains inclusive, vibrant, and a key contributor to the socio-economic transformation of the country.

The NCAZ urged all artists, arts associations, and creative organisations to take advantage of the revised fee structure, highlighting that the move represents a tangible commitment to strengthening the cultural and creative industries.
