The “Mudododo” wave continues to gather momentum as sungura musician Taruvinga “Sugar Sugar” Manjokota receives another US$10,000 gift—this time from Special Presidential Investment and Empowerment Adviser Paul Tungwarara.
Tungwarara announced the gesture on X, stating that Manjokota’s viral hit captures what he describes as the prosperity being experienced under President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s leadership.
He added that the song had inspired a new slogan, “Yangove mudododo 2030 and beyond,” before inviting the musician to collect the US$10,000.
This latest reward comes just days after businessman Wicknell Chivayo showered Manjokota with cash and a new vehicle following the runaway popularity of “Todya Mudododo.”
Chivayo initially announced a brand-new 2026 Toyota Fortuner and US$10,000 in fuel money for the musician. He later offered additional cash rewards after Manjokota praised him, Mnangagwa, and Zimbabwe in a social media video. Reports put the total cash reward from Chivayo at US$40,000, in addition to the vehicle.
This latest development has further thrust Manjokota and his song into the national spotlight, with “Mudododo” continuing to dominate social media conversations and attract attention from prominent personalities.
Manjokota, a veteran sungura musician, has enjoyed a major resurgence following the success of the song, which has been embraced by social media users through videos, dances, and other forms of online content.
The growing popularity of the song has also highlighted the evolving relationship between Zimbabwe’s music industry and social media, as a viral hit now translates into increased visibility and financial rewards for its creator.
With another US$10,000 added to the growing list of rewards linked to “Mudododo,” the wave surrounding Sugar Sugar’s hit shows no signs of slowing down.
