Mutare(Pungwe News- New Ziana)-A local man is lucky to be alive after he was shot on the left side of his back last week by an unknown suspect who was following his car from Fairbridge Park to the Central Business District (CBD).

Manicaland deputy provincial spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Luxon Chananda said the complainant, Saymore Marambe (26) of Hobhouse 2 high density suburb was driving from Fairbridge Park to the CBD around 3 am.

As he approached the intersection of Beale Crescent and Robert Mugabe, his car developed a mechanical fault and he pulled out of the road and parked it.

“Whilst he was parked, a white Toyota Hilux came and parked behind him. When he saw it, he drove off slowly towards the CBD and the suspect followed him,” said Chananda.

When Marambe reached Mutare Farm Supply (MFS), he reportedly slowed down and asked the suspect why he was following him.

“The suspect is said to have pulled a gun and pointed it at Marambe. Sensing danger, Marambe drove off but the suspect pulled the trigger and a bullet shattered the back windscreen and hit him on the left side of his back,” said Chananda.

Marambe reported the matter to Mutare Central Police station.
