PREPARATIONS for the National Association of Schools Heads (NASH) athletics championships are nearing completion at Chipadze High School in Bindura.
The event, scheduled to take place from April 1-4, marks the first time the province has hosted the championships.
According to Mashonaland Central schools sports inspector, Tinashe Mushore, preparations are 90 percent complete.
The ablution block is almost finished with only roofing and piping left to be done. A 500-capacity terrace has been built with final compaction work completed. The terrace will be reserved for guests, while others will be accommodated in tents.
The host schools will occupy the open spaces. To address water supply concerns, solarisation has been implemented to power boreholes, ensuring a 24-hour supply. A network of water pipes is currently being installed.
The province should see this as a platform for everyone to sell ideas, celebrate life together and market the province.
Mushore encouraged people to come together with partners, companies, business owners and individuals to market the province as they are expecting to host a grand event which will give birth to world-class athletes.
“This is a platform for everyone to sell their ideas, celebrate life together, and market the province,” he said.
Mushore also appealed for donations and partnerships to support the event. “The door is still open for donations and we encourage individuals, companies and business owners to come forward and partner with us,” he said.
Chipadze High School is ready to receive visitors from April 1-2 and the main championships will take place on April 3-4.
Bindura University of Science Education, TAFLOW in conjunction with National Athletics Zimbabwe are busy training and preparing the athletes. The province is also on a massive recruiting programmes where they are offering refresher courses and more than 100 officials have been trained to date.
On March 21-23 2025 there will be team preparations in Harare. Mushore said the grounds would be tested during the trial run for provincial competition as they wish to see the functionality of everything that they have put in place so far.
