Bulawayo, (New Ziana)-The National Competitiveness Commission (NCC) will next month host the second Competitiveness Summit at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre (ZIEC) in Bulawayo under the theme, “Accelerating Regulatory Reforms and Ease of Doing Business for a Dynamic and Competitive Zimbabwean Economy.”
In a statement on Monday, the Commission said Vice President Colonel (Retired) Kembo Mohadi will be the guest of honour at the summit, from 15 to 16 September.
The NCC said the summit builds on a resolution of the inaugural Competitiveness Summit, which identified Zimbabwe’s fragmented and burdensome regulatory environment as a major cost driver affecting business operations and national competitiveness.
“Key areas of discussion will include SMART regulations that are streamlined, meaningful, adaptable, relevant and transparent, together with regulatory impact assessment, environmental, social and governance issues, and artificial intelligence in shaping industrial productivity and national competitiveness,” it said.
It said the gathering would draw regional and international expertise and is expected to produce a 2026 Competitiveness Call to Action aimed at improving the competitiveness of Zimbabwean goods and services in domestic, regional and international markets.
“NCC invites academia, the private sector, small and medium enterprises, government, development partners, civil society, local authorities, researchers, think tanks and the media, among other stakeholders, to attend and actively participate in the national dialogue. Zimbabwe’s competitiveness will depend on effective implementation, institutional coordination, innovation and sustained efforts to remove barriers to productive enterprise,” it said.
