Harare, (New Ziana) -The Northern Region Soccer League (NRSL) has postponed to April 11 this year, kicking off its new season, which was initially scheduled to start this weekend.
The NRSL is fed by Harare Metropolitan, Mashonaland Central and Mashonaland West provinces.
According to a memorandum which the NRSL administrator Chera Shava issued on Friday, the delay is meant to ensure that all participating clubs have completed the necessary licensing requirements.
“The National Association has emphasized that no player without a valid licence will be allowed to participate in any competition,” he said.
The memorandum was addressed to all NRSL clubs, the league chairman, executive committee members, the Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) chief executive officer and the Referees Committee. Shava urged the affected clubs to “expeditiously attend to areas of concern” to avoid any further delays.
The NRSL recently secured a significant boost with a three-year sponsorship deal with Supa Fix, a vehicle services company. In addition to supporting the league, the partnership will also recognize and reward top-performing players and coaches on a monthly basis, further enhancing the competitiveness of the season.
