Harare, (New Ziana) – Police have launched a nationwide manhunt for three suspected drug kingpins believed to be operating a network of illegal drug bases in Harare’s western suburbs.
In a statement, police spokesperson Paul Nyathi said authorities are seeking information that could lead to the location and arrest of Idmore “Nomara” Chabata (47), Joymore Chihwai (41), and Leon Mambohatumwi (35), who are wanted in connection with alleged drug trafficking activities.
Nyathi said preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had been operating syndicate drug bases in Mufakose, Marimba and Mabvuku suburbs.
He said the suspects allegedly conducted their operations from heavily fortified houses equipped with advanced security systems, including electric fences and CCTV surveillance cameras, in an effort to evade arrest.
“The premises had vicious dogs such as pit bulls and other security measures meant to scare away law enforcement officers,” Nyathi said.
Police investigations have also linked the suspects to other criminal activities after explosives were reportedly recovered during recent raids on contraband sites.
According to Nyathi, the discovery of explosives raised concerns over possible connections between the suspects and organised crimes such as armed robberies involving the blowing up of safes.
The police urged members of the public with information that may assist in the arrest of the suspects to report at any nearest police station.
