HARARE — The Zimbabwe Republic Police has identified the five people who were on board a helicopter that crashed at Kudenga Farm in Marondera on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi said forensic scientists and aviation experts had attended the crash scene as investigations into the circumstances surrounding the accident got underway.
In a statement, Commissioner Nyathi said the occupants were businessman Wicknell Munodaani Chivayo, Lucy Rujeko Muteke, Saneliswe Magagula, pilot Calvin Tafirei Soda and co-pilot Courage Mutavirwa.
With the identification of the victims, authorities are now working with aviation specialists to establish what caused the aircraft to go down and Commissioner Nyathi said more information will be released as the inquiry progresses.
The police have not yet disclosed the cause of the crash, with aviation authorities also indicating that investigations are still ongoing.
Commissioner Nyathi said the police had conveyed their condolences to the families of those who died.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police expresses its deepest condolences to the bereaved families,” he said.
The crash has prompted investigations involving both law enforcement and aviation experts, with authorities expected to provide further updates as evidence from the crash site is examined.
