    Police name fourteen fatal road crash victims

    Harare, (New Ziana) – Police have named 14 of the 17 people that perished in two separate road traffic accidents in Harare and Mukumbura last week.

    In Harare, the accident claimed eight lives, and occurred on December 15 near the National Museum of African Liberation along the Harare-Bulawayo road, while the Harare-Mukumbura road mishap occurred on December 18 at the 43km peg and killed nine people.

    Four of the victims from both accidents remain unidentified, with three of bodies requiring DNA tests to determine their identities.

    In a statement on X, police national spokesperson, assistant commissioner, Paul Nyathi named the deceased from the Harare accident as Spencer Kaseke (24), Fortune Murandu (35), Letwin Shamhu (55), Andrew Chesure (30), Magada Benny (27), all of Kuwandzana, Ruth Anderson (35), of Glen View and Gunguwo Principal Sam (24) of Makwasina Escrow, Zvishavane. One of the victims from the accident remains unidentified.

    The names of those killed in the Harare-Mukumbura road accident were given as Loice Kapinga (24), George Maforo (36), Angela Kuhondo (6), of Chinhango Street, Manera, Banket, Tanyaradzwa Gomo (5), of Kaunda Street, Banket, Shadreck Chigora (18), of Machiringe Primary School, Mary Mount, Rushinga and Nyasha Faisoni (21) of Nduku village, Mazowe

    Nyathi urged motorists t observe stipulated speed limits and abide by the road traffic rules and regulations in-order to curb road accidents.

    He implored drivers to avoid night travelling as most road traffic accidents are recorded during the night due to visibility challenges.
