Bulawayo, (New Ziana) – The Postal and Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (Potraz) is committed to fostering innovation and inclusivity in the business sector, an official has said.
Potraz director general Gift Machengete said this while officially launching a week-long Start Your Business (SYB) workshop in the country’s second largest city at the weekend.
The workshop, which was held in collaboration with the International Labour Organisation (ILO) and facilitated by Fine Touch Development Trust, was aimed at equipping aspiring entrepreneurs with the essential and practical tools to establish and grow successful businesses.
Key topics covered include business formalisation, financial management, marketing strategies, tax laws, staffing and procurement practices.
The program also emphasised ethical business conduct and the importance of compliance with regulatory requirements, stressing that success is not solely measured by profits, but by the trust and credibility built with customers.
“As Potraz, we are committed to supporting initiatives that promote innovation and inclusivity in the business sector,” said Machengete.
He said through the Universal Service Fund (USF), POTRAZ will continue to ensure that resources are allocated transparently to extend services to underserved communities.
Machengete urged participants to remain steadfast in their entrepreneurial pursuits, guided by integrity and accountability.
He also highlighted the importance of applying the knowledge gained, refining business models, and taking bold steps toward building thriving enterprises.
