HARARE – The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Harare has launched an urgent search for senior priest Fr. Regis Chikuni, whose whereabouts remain unknown.
The Archdiocese raised the alarm in a notice dated September 5, which was read to parishioners during Sunday services. The notice expressed concern over the priest’s safety and well-being.
The notice, issued on behalf of Archbishop Robert C. Ndlovu by his secretary, Fr. Ephraim Murwira, appealed to members of the public who have information that could assist in locating Fr. Chikuni to contact the Archbishop’s Office.
The Church provided two contact numbers—0787 280 146 and 0773 403 539—for anyone who may have information concerning the priest’s whereabouts.
The Archdiocese urged the public to handle the matter with sensitivity and to use only the official channels provided when sharing information.
Catholics across Zimbabwe have also been asked to pray for the safe return of Fr. Chikuni.
“As a family of faith, let us unite in earnest prayer, asking the Lord, through His loving providence and protection, to guide us in finding Fr. Regis safe and sound,” the notice said.
The Archdiocese has not disclosed when or where Fr. Chikuni was last seen, and details surrounding his disappearance remain unclear.
The Church continues to appeal to anyone with credible information that could help locate the priest to come forward.
