Harare, (New Ziana) – Â ZANU-PF leaders and Zimbabweans at large should embrace unity, accelerate development, and harness digital technologies, including artificial intelligence, as the country pushes ahead with its modernization and industrialization agenda, President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said.
Addressing the 393rd Ordinary Session of the ZANU PF Politburo in the capital on Wednesday, President Mnangagwa said the ruling party remains committed to delivering tangible development while safeguarding national values, cultural identity and economic growth.
He said Zimbabwe’s rich cultural diversity should be used as a source of national unity and sustainable development rather than division.
“Cultural diversity is a source of unity, social cohesion, and sustainable development. It should never be a basis for division, conflict or discord. There is no culture which is superior than the other. All cultures must be respected,” he said.
President Mnangagwa also urged party structures to modernize operations by embracing emerging digital technologies guided by the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy.
“In doing so, let us embrace digital technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence, in Party operations,” he said, also calling for greater professionalism and efficiency in party work.
He praised recent empowerment initiatives targeting women and youths, saying his administration remains committed to creating opportunities for all Zimbabweans.
President Mnangagwa said the appointment of the first Zimbabwean female Chief Justice and a youthful Chartered Accountant as Auditor General as evidence of Government’s confidence in women and young professionals.
“This is testament of the confidence my administration has in the capabilities of our citizens, including women and the youth,” he said.
He further commended the ZANU PF Youth League for expanding empowerment projects across districts, describing the youth as critical drivers of the country’s transformation agenda.
On economic development, President Mnangagwa said ongoing investments and infrastructure projects across the country demonstrate growing confidence in government policies and economic reforms.
He cited the commissioning of the new Varun Beverages Snack Production Line in Harare and a 10-megawatt solar power plant in Kwekwe, as well as plans for expansion to 100 megawatts, as major milestones for the economy.
“These projects, among many other investments being undertaken in all sectors of the economy, are evidence of the confidence in our Party and Government policies,” he explained.
President Mnangagwa urged citizens to celebrate development projects regardless of where they are located, warning against divisive narratives around investment distribution.
“Development is a journey, community by community, sector by sector we shall continue building our country, as a united people, step by step, brick by brick and stone upon stone,” he said.
“Investments in our country, no matter where they occur, should be a rallying factor and never manipulated to sow seeds of divisions,” he added.
He said reforms being implemented in mining, agriculture and the creative industry are beginning to yield positive results for both investors and communities.
“Under ZANU PF, Zimbabwe will remain a competitive destination, where capital is safe, we are open for business,” he said.
On international relations, President Mnangagwa reaffirmed Zimbabwe’s foreign policy doctrine of being “a friend to all and an enemy to none,” while advocating for multilateralism, sustainable peace and uninterrupted global supply chains.
He called on party leaders to execute their responsibilities with patriotism, loyalty and discipline.
“Leaders should lead by example,” he said as he urged members to remain committed to the party’s values and national development agenda.
