‎Harare, (New Ziana)–President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Thursday called on members of his ruling Zanu PF party to be united, disciplined and focus on development as the country moves towards its vision of becoming an upper middle income society by 2030.

Addressing the Zanu PF ‎Central Committee, President Mnangagwa emphasized the importance of introspection, saying the meeting presented an opportunity to review both the state of the party and national progress under the stewardship of the party.

“It is also important that we critically examine the progress we are making in the implementation of various policies, programs and projects, through our ZANU PF Government.

“‎Party programs currently underway, such as the verification and restructuring of structures, must be reviewed and the requisite guidance issued,” he said.

‎As preparations intensify for the upcoming Zanu PF National People’s Conference to be held in Manicaland province in October this year, the Central Committee was applauded for its oversight role in ensuring the implementation of party resolutions, including tracking the alignment of government Ministries with party directives via an internal monitoring dashboard.

‎President Mnangagwa praised the “seamless coordination” between the party and Government, stressing that ZANU PF should stay grounded in the concerns of the people, adding the ultimate goal should be to remain immersed with the concerns of the people, and always doing more to improve their quality of people’s lives

‎”This is what ZANU PF stands for, as a colossal revolutionary mass Party,” he said.

‎In a celebratory tone, President Mnangagwa commended ZANU PF’s recent strong by-election performance in several provinces, including Harare, Matabeleland North and South, Manicaland, and Masvingo, victories which he said were proof of the Party’s enduring connection with the electorate.

‎He called on all members to intensify efforts to reclaim urban constituencies, linking the party’s electoral success directly to grassroots service delivery.

“The ward level must be a solid foundation for our national development aspirations. Lifting our people out of poverty and into prosperity should begin at that level, ward by ward and district by district,” said President Mnangagwa.

‎He urged party structures to remain focused on development and not be derailed by “sideshows” or the agendas of “opportunists”, adding that cell verification exercises and the creation of an accurate electronic membership database were were key to internal democracy and electoral preparedness.

‎Reiterating the Party’s commitment to discipline, President Mnangagwa warned against individualism within the ranks, adding set guidelines and procedures should be adhered to and respected at all times.

‎He praised youth participation, party affiliate visibility, and ideological training, directing the Chitepo School of Ideology and the Commissariat Department to scale up training efforts.

‎”ZANU PF ihomwe inokwana vana vese vemu Zimbabwe (Zanu PF is a pocket which can accommodate every Zimbabwean child),” he said, reinforcing the message that the party is inclusive.

‎Looking ahead to 2030, President Mnangagwa noted that Zimbabwe would soon celebrate 50 years of independence, stressing that the party has delivered transformation in various sectors. He celebrated achievements in education, infrastructure, and rural modernization.

‎He reiterated the party’s developmental mantra: production and productivity must increase at every level, from household to province, echoing this in his praise of the Agriculture and Food System Transformation Strategy, which has contributed to increased tobacco sales and anticipated grain surpluses.

‎”Concrete strategies must be undertaken to achieve the policies, programmes and projects that we are advancing,” he said, highlighting national progress in mining, energy, manufacturing, and construction.

‎The tobacco industry has so far recorded sales of more than 316.8 million kilograms, far surpassing the 216 million kilograms sold during the same period last year, President Mnangagwa noted.

He also highlighted progress in the education and health sectors, reaffirming the commitment of Zanu PF to youth and veteran empowerment, adding beneficiaries of such initiatives should show integrity.

Key programs include the War Veterans Fund, the Borehole Drilling Scheme, and the Title Deeds program, which aim to restore dignity to veterans and uplift communities.

‎”We are a people’s Party, implementing programmes that uplift the lives of all the people of our great motherland, Zimbabwe,” he said.

President Mnangagwa called for ethical leadership from the Central Committee, urging members to give guidance that propels its people’s revolution without fear or favour, reminding members of their duty to the grassroots and the need to serve with loyalty.
