Harare, (New Ziana) – President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Wednesday said the ruling ZANU PF party must be first responders to the challenges facing the people and their communities as part of its commitment to delivering sustainable development and improving livelihoods.
Addressing the 382nd Ordinary Session of the Politburo at the party headquarters in Harare, President Mnangagwa, who is also the party’s first secretary, challenged party members to walk alongside the people and always seek to respond to their needs.
This, he said, should be done in seamless coordination, using structures of the party, right from the cell level, district, provincial up to the Central Committee and Politburo.
“As ZANU PF is a colossal revolutionary party, we have a job to do and a vision to deliver for the good of the peoples of our great motherland, Zimbabwe. “I applaud all my fellow citizens from across the country, for their clarity, national consciousness and patriotism that continue to squash efforts by malcontents and rogue delusional elements bent on disturbing our peace, unity and harmony. Our motherland, Zimbabwe, will forever be a Constitutional democratic and sovereign nation, with all of us living in unity, peace and harmony,” he said.
President Mnangagwa said all energies, hands and minds must be fixated on modernising and growing the party membership base.
He added that undertaking projects and initiatives that improve household incomes and the quality of life of the people must be the main focus of the party and the nation as a whole.
“Our Party Constitution is sacred, it is like roots and the trunk of a tree, and we the members are its branches. As with any other revolution, those who do not toe the correct line of the revolution must fall by the wayside,” he warned.
He said the implementation of policies and decisions, towards consolidating the gains of economic stabilisation, modernisation and industrialisation are an ongoing process.
President Mnangagwa said through responsive strategies, the nation is facing head on both opportunities and challenges towards the realisation of the shared national vision and goals. More importantly, he added, in the ongoing economic revolution, the people’s needs and aspirations are at the core of priorities.
“In the agriculture sector, transformational programmes are underway to guarantee national food security and sovereignty. A clear framework is now in place to facilitate the issuance of title deeds towards guaranteeing security of tenure and access to financing for the sector. “Meanwhile, I call upon stakeholders in the agriculture sector to ramp up preparations for the upcoming 2025 Winter Wheat Season,” he said.
He said infrastructure projects are set to resume in earnest with the impending end of the rainy season while the housing stock in the country is increasing at a phenomenal pace, with a remarkable improvement and modernisation, especially in rural areas and growth points.
President Mnangagwa said tourist arrivals are reaching unprecedented levels, while mining sector projects are coming on stream, and having an overall positive impact on the country’s GDP.
“Individually and collectively, we must demonstrate exceptional leadership and never tire of the weighty obligation to faithfully guide the Party and Government towards delivering, on schedule, our country’s development aspirations and goals,” he said.
