Harare, (New Ziana) – President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Monday signed a book of condolence at the Namibian Embassy following the death of the country’s founding President Sam Nujoma earlier this month.
The late Namibian leader died on February 8, and his burial is scheduled for Saturday in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia.
He was accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Professor Amon Murwira.
After signing the condolence book, President Mnangagwa reflected on Dr. Nujoma’s significant impact, calling him a remarkable leader in the Southern African region.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of this esteemed leader. In Zimbabwe, we hold his legacy in high regard. Our nations share a close bond—like twins—so we extend our heartfelt condolences to our Namibian brothers and sisters during this difficult time,” he said.
Dr. Nujoma, who was 95 years old at the time of his death, served as Namibia’s President from 1990 to 2005 and was one of the last remaining African revolutionaries of his generation.
