Harare (New Ziana)–President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Thursday received letters of credence from ambassadors-designated of Bangladesh, the Islamic Republic of Mauritania and Peru, at the State House in Harare.

First to present his credentials was ambassador designate of Peru, Jose Augusto Shaw, who said it was an honour to be in the country after 29 years without his country being represented in Zimbabwe.

Shaw also congratulated Zimbabwe on being elected to the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member.

He highlighted the shared strengths in tourism and said he looks forward to deepening cooperation in agriculture and mining.

Next to present his receives credentials was Ambassador-Designate of Bangladesh Shah Ahmed Shafi, who said his country and Zimbabwe share strong ties built on economic diplomacy and deep people-to-people connections.

Shafi added that both countries are exploring ways to expand partnerships in trade, manufacturing, particularly textiles and pharmaceuticals.

Bangladesh is the second-largest garment and textile manufacturer the world after China and also produces high-quality, affordable pharmaceutical products.

President Mnangagwa also received credentials from Amedi Camara, ambassador-designate of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, who told the media that his country and Zimbabwe share deep cordial relations.

He noted that the two countries are working to improve collaboration in the areas of trade and education.

Camara also commended Zimbabwe for being elected to the UN Security Council as a non-permanent member, calling it a win for Africa.
