The principal of Terbine Mines Pre-School has been fined US$200 or sentenced to 60 days in prison for operating an unregistered school in Mbizo, Kwekwe.
The offender, Bernadette Mabika, pleaded guilty to the charge when she appeared before Kwekwe Resident Magistrate Mildred Matuvi.
The state told the court that on 22 September 2026, at around 11:30 am, police officers were conducting routine checks to ensure private schools complied with registration requirements.
Police officers requested to see the registration certificate issued by the Permanent Secretary of Primary and Secondary Education. Mabika failed to produce a valid certificate, leading to her arrest.
