Retired Major General Everisto Dzihwema, a former senior military officer and seasoned public servant, has died in India where he had been receiving medical treatment.
Throughout a distinguished career that spanned both the military and civil service, Dzihwema occupied several high-ranking positions. He served as Chief Director in the Ministry of Youth and later in the Ministry of Veterans of the Liberation Struggle. He was also a member of the Veterans of the Liberation Struggle Board.
Known for his commitment to national service, Dzihwema was among a generation of liberation war veterans and former military leaders who successfully transitioned into public administration, playing a significant role in government programmes and initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of liberation war veterans.
He is survived by his wife, Alice, and their three children.
