Harare, (New Ziana) – President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Tuesday appointed army commander, Lieutenant General Anselem Nhamo Sanyatwe, as Minister of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture In a statement, chief secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Martin Rushwaya, said the appointment was with immediate effect.
It follows the resignation of Kirsty Coventry, who was recently elected President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
Kirsty Coventry, a renowned Zimbabwean swimmer and Olympic champion, had served as Minister of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture since 2018. She becomes the first African and female head of the IOC.
