Schools to open on September 4 – Government

Share

Harare (New Ziana) – The government has dismissed social media reports that it had postponed the re-opening of schools to September 12.

Schools are due to re-open on September 4, but social media has been awash in recent days with reports that government had postponed this because of the elections held last week.

Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education deputy director, advocacy and communications, Patrick Zumbo dismissed the social media reports as fake.

“The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education would like to inform valued stakeholders that schools will open on Monday the 4th of September and close on the 1st of December as per the calendar. Please ignore the fake message circulating on social media platforms,” he said.

The country held general elections last week to elect new leaders and representatives and concluded the exercise with the announcement of the results at the weekend.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa was re-elected, and the ruling party won the majority seats in parliament.
