GWERU — The Zimbabwe Republic Police have confirmed the deaths of seven learners from Matongo Primary School after a commuter omnibus they boarded caught fire in Senga, Gweru, on Wednesday afternoon.
Police said the victims were burnt beyond recognition. Eighteen other learners were rescued from the blaze, which broke out just outside the school premises.
The cause of the fire is yet to be established. Police and emergency services responded to the scene, and investigations are underway.
