In a chilling incident, a 28-year-old commercial sex worker, experienced a nightmarish encounter when a five-member gang stormed into the lodge she had booked with a client, robbed them of cash and cellphone, before abducting and raping her in a nearby unfinished house.

Zimbabwe Republic Police Midlands province spokesperson Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the robbery and rape case which occurred around 3 am on Wednesday.

It is alleged, that during the night in question, the 28-year-old woman of Vanguard residential suburb in Mberengwa and her client booked into a local guest lodge.
Unexpectedly, five unknown men forcibly gained entry into the room where the couple was sleeping.

“One of them hit the man with a knobkerrie, demanding cash. The man fled the scene leaving his wallet and the woman behind. The assailants took US$80 from the wallet and a small Itel cellphone which was under the pillow.

“They ordered the woman to follow one of the gang members but she refused. He slapped her once on the left eye, dragged her to a nearby unfinished house which is under construction, and raped her once before ordering her to leave,” said Insp. Mahoko.
A report was made to the police and no arrests have been made.
