GWERU – Violence reared its ugly head in the Ruvimbo Funeral Central Region Soccer League as the
match between Shabanie and Telone was abandoned five minutes before the final whistle.
Crowd trouble started just after Telone had scored from a free kick on the edge of Shabanie’s box
from the boot of Blessing Sahondo.
According to reports, the home fans threw missiles onto the pitch, protesting the referee’s decision
to give the free kick that led to a goal.
Following the crowd trouble, the referee stopped play before the game was officially abandoned
after a prolonged period of disorder with the score at 1-0 in favour of Telone.
TelOne will remain on top of the log standings with 23 points, while awaiting the judgement from
the league.
Shabanie is fourth from bottom after the weekend matches with six points, the same with Amazon
and CM Academy below them and Blanket Mine which has five points.
