Shurugwi man stabbed in a revenge attack

Share

SHURUGWI — A 25-year-old local man escaped death by a whisker after being stabbed twice over a
long outstanding grudge.

It is alleged that Norest Chipanera of RB Magomero was drinking beer with other patrons at Coconut
tuckshops, when the accused, only identified as Tocky suddenly arrived, armed with a Columbia
knife.

With no provocation, Tocky allegedly stabbed Chipanera twice in front of shocked members of the
public shouting that he was revenging an assault on him which occurred in 2022.

After committing the offence, the suspect vanished into the thin air leaving the Chipanera lying on
the ground. He was taken to the police station by a well-wisher and was referred to Shurugwi
District hospital where he is admitted and is in serious condition.

Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the attempted
murder case and is appealing for assistance from members of the public who might have
information that can lead to the arrest of Tocky.
