HARARE, – St Antony’s High School from Masvingo Province has been crowned champions of the 43rd edition of the Old Mutual National High Schools Quiz after emerging victorious in the national finals held in Harare on Friday.
The prestigious academic competition, held at Heritage Village, brought together top-performing schools from Zimbabwe’s 10 provinces following provincial qualifying rounds.
St Antony’s outshone fellow finalists to claim the national title, demonstrating outstanding knowledge, teamwork and critical thinking throughout the competition.
A member of the victorious team attributed the success to unity and dedication.
“The competition was tough, but through teamwork we emerged victorious. We are also excited about the prizes we have won, which will go a long way in supporting our academic success,” the student said.
Vhengere High School finished as runners-up, with one of its students describing the competition as an important platform that exposed the school to national recognition.
“For a boarding school like ours, this was a great opportunity. The exposure has shown that we are a school to reckon with. We may come from a small town that is not well known, but we made it to the national finals,” the student said.
Kwenda High School, which also reached the finals, pledged to return stronger in the next edition.
“This was a battle for supremacy. Although we did not win, we represented our school well by reaching the finals. We will come back stronger next year,” said a member of the team.
