Harare, (New Ziana) – The Sudanese Embassy on Wednesday expressed profound sorrow and solidarity with Zimbabwe following the tragic Lake Kariba ferry accident last week that claimed nearly 100 lives and left several others still missing.

In a statement, the Sudanese Embassy conveyed its heartfelt condolences and sympathies to the families and relatives of the victims, as well as to the Government and people of Zimbabwe during what it described as a difficult and painful time.

“The Embassy expresses its solidarity with the people of Zimbabwe and wishes a speedy recovery to the survivors and injured, while praying for the safety of the search and rescue teams and all those involved in the ongoing recovery operations,” it said.

The diplomatic mission also commended Zimbabwean authorities, emergency services and search-and-rescue teams for their efforts to locate and recover victims under challenging circumstances.

The tragedy has triggered an outpouring of sympathy, with the Sudanese Embassy joining those expressing support for Zimbabweans affected by the disaster.

The Embassy also offered prayers for the deceased, saying it wished eternal rest to the souls of the deceased and comfort for their families and loved ones, while wishing survivors and injured victims strength and a speedy recovery.
