The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has released the names of six victims who perished in a devastating road traffic accident along the Harare –Masvingo road on Thursday morning.

According to the police, the fatal crash occurred around 0950 hours at the 246-kilometre peg near Masvingo.

The accident involved a Toyota Corolla and a Mercedes-Benz that collided head-on, resulting in the immediate loss of all six occupants from one vehicle.

The victims, all from the same family and residents of Tynwald North, have been identified as:
Lillian Mandla Mujuru (40), Nokutenda Mujuru (15), Makanaka Mujuru (13), Ronald Junior Mujuru (11), Rufaro Shalom Mujuru (7) and Kayden Mujuru (3).

In a statement, the ZRP expressed its deepest condolences to the bereaved family, describing the incident as a heartbreaking loss.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police extends sincere condolences to the family of the deceased,” the statement read.

“We continue to urge all motorists to exercise extreme caution and prioritize road safety, particularly during the Easter and Independence holidays when traffic volumes increase.”

The tragic incident adds to growing concerns over road safety in the country, especially along major highways where speeding, overtaking errors, and driver fatigue remain leading causes of fatal accidents.

Police reiterated calls for responsible driving to prevent further loss of life on the country’s roads.
