Harare,  (New Ziana) – Two failed attempts to rape different women have earned a man from Inyathi, Bubi in Matabeleland North, 15 years imprisonment, the National Prosecuting Authority of Zimbabwe (NPAZ) has reported.

Khumbulani Ngulube (36) was convicted by the Inyathi Magistrates’ Court for attempted rape that occurred in May and September last year.

The NPAZ said on May 26 last year, Ngulube attempted to rape the first complainant.

He also attempted to rape another woman on September 5 in Mahlabathini Village 5, Inyathi.

In the second incident, Ngulube broke into the woman’s hut at night, physically assaulted her, and attempted to remove her clothing.

She screamed and her mother came to her rescue. He proceeded to assault the woman’s mother and fled soon thereafter.

The clothes that he left at the scene helped the second complainant and other members of the community to identify him.
