Bulawayo-More than 60 young innovators drawn from all the country’s ten provinces are taking bold steps toward building enterprises capable of shaping Zimbabwe’s economic future, as momentum grows around youth-led innovation and entrepreneurship.
Speaking during the Young Innovators Forum at the on -going Zimbabwe International Trade Fair , Ambassador Pamela Tremont underscored the United States’ commitment to strengthening bilateral trade and investment ties with Zimbabwe, particularly through initiatives that empower young entrepreneurs to turn ideas into viable businesses.
Ambassador Tremont highlighted that while ideas are powerful, meaningful investment is what transforms innovation into lasting economic impact. She said the United States is keen to support programmes that nurture youth talent, unlock financing opportunities, and promote sustainable enterprise development.“Ideas are powerful, but investment is what turns those ideas into real impact,” said Ambassador Tremont. “The United States is committed to strengthening bilateral trade and investment with Zimbabwe in ways that support sustainable growth, create jobs, drive innovation, and promote mutual prosperity for both our nations.”
She added that supporting young innovators remains a priority, noting that youth-led enterprises have the potential to address local challenges while contributing to national industrialisation and economic diversification.
“We are proud to partner with stakeholders who are willing to invest in young innovators. By supporting youth-driven solutions, we are not only empowering individuals but also laying the foundation for stronger economies and shared prosperity between Zimbabwe and the United States,” she said.
The Young Innovators Forum brought together emerging entrepreneurs working in sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, technology, and creative industries, providing them with a platform to showcase their innovations and connect with potential investors and development partners.
Innovators present expressed optimism that increased collaboration between international partners, Government institutions, and private sector players will enhance access to funding, mentorship, and markets.
Many of the young innovators said the opportunity to present their ideas before investors and development agencies marked a critical step toward transforming their concepts into sustainable enterprises capable of generating employment and driving inclusive economic growth.
The forum reaffirmed the growing recognition that empowering youth with skills, funding, and mentorship is central to unlocking Zimbabwe’s economic potential, with stakeholders emphasising that investment in young innovators today will shape the industries and opportunities of tomorrow.
